Saleen Introduces the “Saleen 7,” a Revolutionary Electric Supercar

December 13, 2013

Saleen 7 is perhaps one of the fastest street cars to be released by Saleen. This Ford-based street car is characterized by a big twin-turbo V-8 and 750 horsepower with a capability of zero to 62 mph in only 3.2 seconds. It is theoretically possible for it to attain 248 mph. Among the major achievements of the company was the Mustang soop-up. The soop-up process should definitely pick up following the announcement of the new model. An electric car is Saleen’s next project. There are numerous advantages associated with electric vehicles and hybrid cars in comparison to conventional gasoline cars.

According to Auto moguls such as Elon Musk, Henrik Fisker, the late Carroll Shelby, Reeves Callaway and many more, a car’s performance should be equated with its environmental impact. There are times when a car may fail to achieve at both categories as was the case with Fisker Karmer. Model S’s runway success will definitely inspire more announcements such as that of Saleen 7. According to the company’s CEO, Steven Saleen, it is undoubtedly evident that electric cars are the trend rather than a fad. The company has plans to manufacture electric vehicles with the purpose of increasing the range of automobiles for consumers. The CEO further added that Saleen 7 would be revolutionary in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. The fans of Saleen were asked to get rid of preconceived expectations and notions.

Speculations suggest that Saleen plans to make two-seater cars. According to Motor Trend, the void left by the discontinuation of Tesla Roadstar could be filled by an electric vehicle sports car from Saleen. The basis of such a vehicle could be the company’s S5S Raptor Concept. Another example of having-it-all supercars is Porsche’s $845,000 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid cars. The company claims that the range of the car is 18 miles at up to 93 mph speed.

The introduction of electric vehicle supercars is prevalent, especially in Europe. The $540,000 SLS AMG Electric Drive/E-Cell was shown off by Mercedes in Paris. The car is characterized by a 60-kilowatt-hour pack, four wheels and a gigantic 552 kilowatts tap in combination with a torque of 738-pound feet. Most people should expect Tesla, a Mercedes partner, to introduce this car. However, this could be a wrong notion because Tesla has been said to have stake ownership currently. Tesla is being changed by all the performance/luxury marques because of the prestige factor, as well as its sales numbers.
